December 3, 1972 – First mission to Jupiter, Pioneer 10

The first spacecraft to make direct observations of Jupiter was Pioneer 10. It did so on December 3, 1972. Some would say that Pioneer 10 is the first man-made object to leave the solar system as it it heading for Taurus.

  1. So, what if…just what if Heaven was somewhere in another galaxy and when we die, we go straight there. Then all of the sudden, out of nowhere comes Pioneer 10, crashing the party.

I know there are lots of theological problems with that, but seriously, it’s weird to think that thing has existed in space longer than I’ve existed on earth.
