Apollo 5 unmanned mission launches January 22, 1968

Apollo-5 launched on this day (January 22, 1968) from Pad 37-B aboard a Saturn-1B roocket.

The mission according to NASA was to, ” Verify operation of Lunar Module ascent and descent propulsion systems. Evaluate Lunar Module staging. Evaluate S-IVB instrument unit performance. ”

All mission objectives were achieved.
